• The measurement method of vortex flowmeters is based on an obstacle in the middle of the flow channel, which causes vortices. The vortex forms one after the other on the opposite sides of the obstacle. The eddies are called Karman eddies. The frequency of the eddies is directly proportional to the flow rate. That is, the greater the flow, the more often eddies are formed.

• In a vortex flowmeter, vortices cause pressure fluctuations, which are measured by a pressure sensor after the obstacle. The Vortex flow meter calculates the volume flow using the flow rate and the diameter of the jacket.

• Vortex flow measurement is a simple and inexpensive measurement method and it is suitable for many special purposes and a wide temperature range. The meter also has a temperature sensor, so it is also well suited for thermal energy measurement applications. The Vortex flow meter can also have a pressure measurement like the Azbil meter. In other words, volume flow, temperature and pressure can be measured with the same meter. These can be used to directly measure the energy of steam, for example. Particular

• The Vortex flow meter is excellently suited to the measurement method, e.g. for steam flow measurement, because an obstacle in the flow channel causes a small pressure drop, which causes the water droplets on the pipe wall to vaporize.
