Hybrid and Can-stack Linear Stepper Motors

Linear stepper motors are available in frame sizes ranging from 15 mm to 87 mm. Double-motion linear stepper motors are also available. A double-motion linear stepper motor offers independent linear and rotational motion within the same unit.

Linear stepper motors are available with hybrid and permanent magnet motors. The linear stepper motor is based on a stepper motor with a linear actuator attached. Linear motion can be achieved by combining a stepper motor with a lead screw. In this application, the stepper motor moves the lead screw back and forth as instructed by the controller. Hybrid linear stepper motors are available in six sizes, with the smallest being 21 mm and the largest 87 mm. Stronger Double Stack versions of hybrid motors are also available.

Each size comes in three different models: locked, free, and externally lockable configurations. The motors offer over 20 different step resolutions ranging from 0.001524 to 0.127 mm/step. With micro-stepping, even more precise resolutions can be achieved. The advantages of linear stepper motors are most apparent in applications that require precise positioning, fast movement, and long service life.
